Gull Cottage Cattery is run by Lawrence and Juliet Frohn and provides specialist cat accommodation in the quiet, rural village of Dallinghoo near Wickham Market in Suffolk. The maximum 5 star rating we received from Suffolk Coastal District Council for our cat boarding service reflects the commitment and care provided by our small dedicated team.

“We welcomed our first cats to Gull Cottage Cattery in 2006. Running a cattery was something we realised we would like to do after living next door to a cattery in Kent. When we saw Gull Cottage, we knew immediately it was the place for us. It’s a great family home and its peaceful and quiet location away from any hustle and bustle is perfect for a cattery.”

“We have always loved cats – and all animals. We both had cats, dogs and rabbits as children and I studied agriculture at college before spending my twenties working on dairy farms, pig farms and with sheep. So it’s an enormous pleasure to spend our days at Gull Cottage surrounded by cats, as well as our own rescue cats, two retired sheep, and a dog called Tilly.”

Teddy, Stinker and Tilly – our pets

“Tilly is a Springador, who pays no attention to the cats in the cattery, having grown up among cats after joining us as a puppy. When she arrived, we had a gorgeous cat called Ginger, who turned up in the cattery one evening and decided to stay. We can credit Ginger, who became Tilly’s great companion, with training Tilly in all matters feline. Now Tilly’s best friends are Stinker, a huge character who joined us as an adult rescue cat, and Teddy, who was our daughter's 'best ever' birthday present when she chose him from a Cats' Protection litter of kittens.”

The Team

“Helping us to provide the very best service to the cats in our care are lifelong animal lovers Debbie and Anna, alongside part-time team members Ellie and Meg. Debbie has four cats of her own as well as two dogs and ten chickens, while Anna has two dogs and a house rabbit. Anna would also love to have a cat but currently lives on a main road so gets her cat 'fix' by spending as much time as possible making a fuss of the cats at Gull Cottage. When not caring for the cats in the cattery, she will often be found, with her daughters, looking after their pony Dudley. Anna and Debbie had valuable kennel, cattery and pet care experience before coming to Gull Cottage. Ellie and Meg are similarly mad about animals; Meg’s family have one of Tilly’s puppies and a cat, Lola, while Ellie and her mother provide a dog-sitting service in their home (often looking after a family’s dog while their cat comes to us!).”

My cat has visited Gull Cottage Cattery regularly over the past ten years. When I see the confident way he leaves his basket to explore his pen I know he feels happy and secure. Each pen has several zones and he loves sitting on the upper level watching the world outside. Knowing he is well cared for means we can go on holiday with peace of mind.

The staff are very calm and obviously devoted to their customers - I have always found them carefully organised whether full or not, with a pervading atmosphere of peace. Our cat is now 16 years old and requires daily grooming/special meds - all of this is included, even though it must take up time for the staff.
